I’m a creative copywriter and brand strategist for artistic, change-making service-providers. What’s my style? Writing inventive copy that goes against your English prof’s advice so you can make money for your business.
Finally owning my own platform/blog/virtual living room is super exciting (and also kind of weird too) but, I have a lot to share and I hope you’re ready to hear it.
Let’s break this down. A conversion copywriter (coined by Joanna Wiebe, primo CopyHacker) creates the words and messages your online visitors need so they feel driven to say “yes” to your offer. No one makes a thoughtful purchase without copy carrying them to the BUY button.
Now, a regular ole copywriter can create all kinds of clever-sounding words: product descriptions, web copy, emails to subscribers (and even blog posts). But, a conversion copywriter ensures it’s intended to convert. We do the work behind the scenes to find the market science, consumer decision-making data, and artsy-fartsy words.
The conversion could be sales, leads, engagement, or any analytic you need to measure. It’s based on your needs.
I’m the creative copywriter who’s a fun little cocktail of clever-sounding and converting. Three things always came naturally to me: writing, storytelling, and learning.
I’m kind of a nerd— both word and fandom.
Hatched in the professional world as a stage manager (and side-hustlin’ writer), I’ve worn A LOT of hats: office administrator, production manager, digital marketer, technical writer, and stage technician.
As an entertainment professional, I put my technical theatre degree to work. Long nights, early mornings, and family holidays on production teams for artists like 30 Seconds to Mars, blink-182, Niall Horan, and I’ll stop the brag train there. The Major Leagues of Live Entertainment taught me how:
Now, why do the big corporations get to have all the fun? I think it’s time to give the little guy in small business a chance. Don’t you?
How’d I spin my theatre life backstage into a copywriting gig on the web? Digital marketing expertise, nerdy love for the written word, and a calling to show up where you need me.
Toss in a pandemic.
Add industry shutdowns.
Drizzle on anxious scrolling and mind-melting depression.
What better time to drive a dream career forward, right?
Writing can be freaking stressful. Speaking from experience, if you don’t have a plan for yourself, you might waste a good four hours trying SO HARD to carve out a message while wiping away frustrated tears. Freaking yourself out wondering if you’re really as good as you think you are.
Well, first up—you’re better than you think you are. Second? It doesn’t have to be like that. Not for you. I founded this business to form a creative safe space motivating diverse brands to learn as we go.
My Jamaican parents taught me that when “everything’s irie,” the environment’s great. Vibes-right. Stress-free. Each Irie Copy experience leaves you feeling nice, relaxed, and cared for—like a trip to my favorite tiny Caribbean island.
Writing is honestly 10% of the work. I’m not interested in giving you average word wizardry because creative copy isn’t written. It’s meticulously pieced together with real data.
For starters, we assemble your brand discovery and market research. Next, I create the words you need to convert your people. To end things on even ground, we test your new copy with your audience before guiding you through your own brand ownership strategy.
The right creative copywriter designs informed messaging to lay the groundwork now so you can breathe later.
